Bhavāni Aṣṭakaṁ was written by Adi Shankaracharya, in praise of Goddess Bhavani.
Astakam means eight, it symbolizes a song or hymn containing eight paras. Eight is very crucial number in vedic astrology.
There are eight directions, eight forms of Shiva (Asta Murti), eight bondages of Soul (Asta Charakaraka) and eight arms of Durga (Due to imaginative powers of the Artist, he gave Maa Bhavani two extra hands in picture)
The one who sings Bhavani Astakam, everyday will be protected by Maa Bhavani from all dangers. Bhavani Astakam not only protects the body but one’s mind too. It is a very good remedy for Moon. People who have weak Moon can sing either Bhavani Astakam or Krishna Astakam. Krishna Astakam purifies soul, and opens door for spiritual growth, but Bhavani Astakam also provides a Kavacha (Armour).

Learn the Bhavani Astakam by heart. Recite it every evening for maximum benefit.
